Lillie West’s Lala Lala project has inked a deal with Sub Pop Records, and the two great musical entities are celebrating the union by releasing West’s new single, “Does This Go Faster?” The song features Abby Black on drums, Sen Morimoto on saxophone, and Melina Duterte (a.k.a. Jay Som) on guitar, bass, and keys, in addition to her co-production duties alongside West. The song glimmers with champagne-bubbly synths and percussion that would fit in nicely on a Britpop compilation. West sings: “I don’t live here, I don’t live anywhere / It’s a choice I made, I was prepared.”
Regarding the song, West said: “I blew up my life and spent two years with my things in storage, traveling around. I wrote this in Iceland during the time I started to feel a little like… What did I do? What happened? What now?” This is what happens now! And I like it!
