Augustus Miller and Jae Matthews (a.k.a. Boy Harsher) have some interesting figures set to star in their forthcoming debut feature film, The Lonely Woman. Alongside Chloë Sevigny in the lead role, fellow musicians FKA twigs, Sturgill Simpson, and Will Oldham (Bonnie “Prince” Billy) will appear on screen. Twigs made her acting debut in 2019’s Honey Boy and is set to star in the upcoming religious horror film The Carpenter’s Son, while Simpson has made appearances in Killers of the Flower Moon, The Dead Don’t Die, and more titles over the past few years. Oldham’s acting career has been fairly consistent since the late-’80s.

The Lonely Woman follows a woman marked by her first love’s death in a mountain tunnel,” reads the tagline to the film, which was also scored by Boy Harsher. “Drawn into the mystery of a new disappearance, she finds herself confronting a seductive and terrifying presence buried beneath the town.” Miller and Matthews described the movie as a “a horror film, an erotic thriller, a creature feature, a weird one, a fun one, a sweet one.”

The film follows the duo’s 2022 short The Runner, which they also scored (and which also starred musicians). Check out this morning’s official announcement on Instagram below.
