After establishing a fervent fanbase following the release of their self-released debut album Introduction, Presence in 2020, Brooklyn-based synth-pop trio Nation of Language signed with Sub Pop last year to drop their hypnotic fourth LP, Dance Called Memory. The band has been touring the US and internationally extensively since its September release, hitting The Truman in Kansas City this weekend for their first show of 2026. After dates in Miami and Mexico in February, the band revealed that they’ll be laying low for a stretch to work on some “exciting new things.”

Photographer Anthony Scanga (a.k.a. RAS Visual) caught up with the group for some backstage portraits and live coverage in Kansas City, a city the trio considers a second hometown (keyboardist Aidan Noell hails from there). Take a look at his images for FLOOD below, and make sure to read the band’s breakdown of their 10 favorite films of the decade for our 10th anniversary print issue here.
