Wormy has shared a final preview before releasing his new LP Shark River on Friday. “I Hate You” is a folk-emo country-rock cut built around crunching guitars and Noah Rauchwerk’s unforgettable delivery. “Man, I hate you, but I love you so much,” he sings during the chorus.
“I’ve always been really attracted to very literal, autobiographical songs,” the artist shares. “I think back to my sister showing me Bright Eyes for the first time early in high school and The Mountain Goats a little later. I had never heard anything like it. I was so blown away by the extreme honesty of the lyricism, without everything always being steeped in metaphor. Those songs aren’t about making ‘beautiful music,’ they’re about trying to display pure emotion.”
