New York rap pillar ELUCID has announced that he’ll be teaming up with Swiss producer Sebb Bash for a new LP entitled I Guess U Had to Be There. The album will be released on March 13 via Backwoodz Studioz, the label run by ELUCID’s Armand Hammer bandmate billy woods. First single “First Light” is built around a percussive bass melody and steady handclaps. ELUCID uses the beat as a loose guideline, occasionally adhering to its rhythm and often dancing around it like a flame jolted by a brief gust of wind.

Artists featured on I Guess U Had to Be There include woods, former Juggaknits emcee Breeze Brewin, Estee Nack, and Shabaka Hutchings—who announced his own new album today. Check out the video for “First Light” below, and pre-order the new LP here.
