As Pink Floyd readies what David Gilmour insists will be its “last thing,” citing keyboardist Richard Wright’s passing as a key factor in the decision to fade out, the band has premiered a song called “Louder Than Words.” It is the only track from The Endless River to feature vocals, with a lyrical contribution from Gilmour’s wife, Polly Samson. The song has a serene gospel feel, and plenty of Gilmour’s trademark Marshall tone to go around. Although “Louder” contains the album’s only original vocals, another track, “Talkin’ Hawkin,” will sample the voice of legendary physicist Stephen Hawking. Also (sort of) present on The Endless River is the negative space willfully occupied by former Pink Floyd founding bassist Roger Waters, who has made it a point to publicly deny any involvement with this record or the band in general. Cheers, Rog, I think we’ve got it.
