Back in October, we checked in with Of Monsters and Men’s Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir about the state of the band in their 15th year. The co-vocalist had just released her debut solo album two years prior, and she was frank about how 2019’s Fever Dream nearly marked the end of the road for the band as each of its members began new chapters in their personal and creative lives. “It was the first time where it was this very conscious thing of, ‘We don’t need to continue doing this, do we want to?’” she shared. “It was nice to have that feeling of, ‘Yeah, we actually want to make this record.’”
Now, the band is making their way through Europe in support of last fall’s fourth album, All Is Love and Pain in the Mouse Parade, after a North American tour immediately following the record’s release—including stops at Austin City Limits and Corona Capital. Meanwhile, the band will be taking over FLOOD FM this week with a new episode of “Hacked,” which features material from OMAM’s own side projects and collaborators (slowshift, RAKEL) and indie-rock peers (Beach House, The Kills), and even includes some heavy tunes (Chat Pile, DITZ). Check out the full playlist every day this week (February 2 – 6) at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 5 p.m., and 10 p.m. PT only on FLOOD FM.
