U2 have released Days of Ash, a new six-track collection recorded for Ash Wednesday. Arriving ahead of a new album from the band planned for later this year, the EP includes five new songs and a poem, all of which are a reflection on the current state of our world.

“It’s been a thrill having the four of us back together in the studio over the last year,” Bono shared in a press statement, noting that the Days of Ash tracks differ in mood from the forthcoming LP. “These EP tracks couldn’t wait; these songs were impatient to be out in the world. They are songs of defiance and dismay, of lamentation. Songs of celebration will follow, we’re working on those now...because for all the awfulness we see normalized daily on our small screens, there’s nothing normal about these mad and maddening times and we need to stand up to them before we can go back to having faith in the future. And each other.”

The release comes alongside Propaganda, a digital zine with a limited print run. Order that here, and stream Days of Ash here.
