Oxford’s Heavenly were among the primary architects of the early-’90s twee-pop movement that would soon give way to groups like The Cardigans and Belle and Sebastian. Yet after releasing four albums in five years they faded away for a full three decades—that is until last week, when their fifth album Highway to Heavenly picked up where 1996’s Operation Heavenly left off. The new release slots nicely within both the band’s prior discography and the recent twee-pop revival that’s unfolded over the past few years, surely inspired by Heavenly’s initial iconic run.

Before the band plays a string of shows in the US beginning next month, they’ll be taking over FLOOD FM all week with a new episode of “Hacked” spotlighting some of the classic rock groups who laid the foundation for Heavenly—including The Shangri-Las, Wire, and T. Rex—alongside modern figures such as Courtney Barnett. Catch the show every day this week (March 2 – 6) at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 5 p.m., and 10 p.m. PT only on FLOOD FM.
