The Hives’ frontman Pelle Almqvist often refers to his group as “the best band in the world,” and witnessing their bombastic force in person makes it hard to argue otherwise. The Swedish garage rockers brought their The Hives Forever Forever The Hives tour to Chicago this past week along with support from Australian punk band The Chats. Naturally, their 18-song set was an enthralling, high-energy affair stacked with career-spanning hits alongside newer material. They exited in triumphant fashion, bowing to Carly Simon’s “Nobody Does It Better”—and, well, they just might be right.
