Last Friday marked the return of Yot Club, the indie-surf project led by LA-based songwriter Ryan Kaiser, who refocused the attention of his third album on the doldrums of life in the American suburbs. That sense of boredom comes through in the presentation of several of the songs found on Simpleton without ever inflicting that sense of ennui on the listener, with Kaiser’s needling guitar riffs buoying even the most dourly existential numbers.

To get a sense of the headspace Kaiser was in while the record came together, Yot Club will be taking over FLOOD FM all week with a new episode of “Hacked” that features some of the artist’s recent favorite tracks, including cuts by Blondie, The Cleaners From Venus, and Bongwater. Check out the episode every day this week (April 20 – 24) at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 5 p.m., and 10 p.m. only on FLOOD FM.
