The Rolling Stones are firmly in their Foreign Tongues era, and have unveiled a whole gaggle of treats ahead of the newly announced LP’s July 10 release date. The 14-track collection includes the single “In the Stars,” which was released today alongside the album’s opening track “Rough and Twisted” (the former will also receive a physical release on May 15). Additionally, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood will attend a media launch for the album later today in Brooklyn. The album features collaborations with Steve Winwood, Paul McCartney, The Cure’s Robert Smith, and Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The album also includes the final sessions from the band’s late drummer Charlie Watts.
“It was a very intense few weeks recording Foreign Tongues,” Jagger shared of the project’s recording process at London’s Metropolis. “We had 14 great tracks and we went as fast as we could. I like the room there as it’s not too big so you can feel the passion in the room from everyone.”
“The Foreign Tongues album has a continuity from Hackney Diamonds and it was great to be working in London again, and to have that London vibe around us,” added Richards, referring to the band’s previous LP released back in 2023. “It was a month of concentrated punch. To me, it’s all about the enjoyment of it. I’m blessed to be able to do this and long may it last.”
“The atmosphere in the room was so creative, and the whole band was on top form throughout the whole process,” concluded Wood. “Very often we nailed it on the first take. I hope everyone loves it.”
