Cat Power is continuing to celebrate 20 years of The Greatest with a new anniversary edition of the LP to coincide with her previously announced summer tour in honor of the project. Matador, who originally released the record, will drop the reissue on July 10, and the package will feature a limited reprint of the LP’s original pink foil cover art and pink-colored vinyl.
This latest news surrounding The Greatest comes after the release of Redux, a three-song EP that was released via Domino in support of the anniversary around its original release date back in January. The EP included a cover of the James Brown track “Try Me,” a re-recorded version of The Greatest cut “Could We,” and Chan Marshall’ take on Prince’s “Nothing Compares 2 U,” which was recorded in honor of the late guitarist Teenie Hodges, a member of The Memphis Rhythm Band that backed Cat Power on The Greatest.
