This is not a drill: We are officially in a Boards of Canada album cycle. This is Inferno’s world, and we’re just living in it. The duo have unveiled the first new music from the forthcoming album in the form of two singles, “Introit” and “Prophecy at 1420 MHz.” The songs mark the first two tracks on the album, with “Introit” introducing the LP with warm synths and a sound that’s reminiscent of the early compositional work of the plant-obsessed Mort Garson. “Prophecy at 1420 MHz” is decidedly less sunny, more murky and haunted. It does become an absolute groover, though. I am very excited for this album.
Inferno will be released on limited-edition red translucent two-LP vinyl in a triple gatefold sleeve that comes with a 16-page booklet. Other iterations include the standard black two-LP vinyl, as well as CD and digital formats. Pre-order Inferno here, and check out the new singles below.
