After three years of gathering lyrical material, indie-pop duo New Constellations will be releasing their highly personal debut album It Comes in Waves this Friday via Nettwerk Music Group. The 13-song collection covers the spectrum of sound as much as it does one of emotion, with yearning dream-pop brushing up against euphoric dance music. For their recent “Neighborhoods” session filmed in their hometown of Portland, Oregon, the band plays one single and one unreleased tune which together speak to the LP’s broad lyrical spectrum: “‘Hot Blooded’ is for the hopeful yearners out there,” they share of the former, leaving the rest up to the listener’s interpretation. The unreleased “Dandelion,” meanwhile, “speaks to being at the end of a relationship but wondering if that was the right choice. Loving someone deeply and not being ready to say goodbye.”

The two-song acoustic set was filmed at Lonesomeville Studios, an Airbnb and art space in the city that New Constellations found inspiration in as the record came together. As they note, the spot is “owned by artists and lovers Wayne and Danny who have worked on this home for the last 30 years. They say the home is a living canvas for their work, and we couldn’t agree more. We stayed here for the weekend and filmed our ‘Waterslides’ music video here, and it was straight out of a fairy tale. The entire home has been remodeled with custom fixtures made from pottery and wood that they made. All the art of the walls they made. It’s my favorite Airbnb to date. Please stay here while in Portland.”
