Keenan O’Meara is enjoying some much-deserved downtime after joining Zach Bryan on a recent European tour and releasing his debut album, Bathe in the Everlasting Light. The 12-song collection mines a familiar territory between alternative country and indie-folk, albeit led by a uniquely contemplative voice within the space. O’Meara enlisted the help of Sufjan Stevens, Hannah Cohen, Sam Evian, and Meg Lui across the album, with this sort of collaboration pushing against the sense of isolation heard within the lyrics.
With the album out for nearly a month now, O’Meara gave us a taste of his live show with a solo acoustic performance of two of the album’s tracks. Filmed in Upstate New York, his gentle “Neighborhoods” session consists of the final two songs on Everlasting Light—“Halley’s Comet” and the title track—which O’Meara strums through amid a wall of vibrant foliage. “I record and film everything in the southern Catskills, not too far from a town called Kingston New York,” he explains of the location.
