Earlier this year, we (sort of) got to know the anonymous figures behind the viral Quebecois math-rock duo Angine de Poitrine before their star continued to rise upon the release of their second record, Vol. II. “It was always about getting laughs out of grotesque improvisations or developing a repertoire of our own creations,” shared the polka-dotted band’s percussionist, known as Klek. “That, or challenging each other through play.”
Since then, they’ve begun to take those challenging improvisations on the road for a largely sold-out world tour in support of their unique spectacle. After packing LA’s Teragram Ballroom earlier this week, the duo has already been invited back to the city for a pair of shows at a much bigger venue in December, The Wiltern—two shows that seem to have sold out just as quickly. Fortunately we managed to snag a front-row seat to Monday’s set, where photographer Skylar Watkins documented the proceedings.
Check out her shots below, and if you’re up for the international trip and festival ticket fees, you can find their few remaining available dates here.
