The Beatles Estate is gearing up to release a reissue of the band’s 1965 LP Rubber Soul (ever heard of it?), which will arrive in all sorts of exciting formats and box sets. With the release coming on October 2, UMG and Apple Corps Ltd. have shared a “Songwriting Work Tape” version of “Day Tripper,” which captures Paul McCartney and John Lennon working on the initial version of the familiar tune.
This recording was made by the duo together at John’s home, Kenwood, in Weybridge, Surrey, and was eventually completed during an eight-hour studio session.
