Few major festivals feel as connected to their surroundings as Bumbershoot. Held each Labor Day weekend at Seattle Center—with KEXP situated on the same grounds—the long-running music and arts festival is integrated into the heart of Seattle in a way that really showcases the city’s culture, people, and dedication to the music community.

FLOOD photographer Anthony Scanga attended Bumbershoot for the fourth time—and covered it for the first—to capture the weekend’s slightly reconfigured stage setup and standout performances from Turnstile, Die Spitz, De La Soul, Bikini Kill, and more. The latter drew a crowd so large that fans climbed trees to catch a glimpse, while Death Cab for Cutie delivered one of the most energetic sets of the weekend. Orville Peck, meanwhile, debuted a new song and recalled attending Bumbershoot himself “a looong time ago” to see Hole and Weezer.
