Last night, Sheryl Crow was in Nashville to receive the annually issued BMI Troubadour Award, which, according to BMI, honors “a songwriter who has made a profound impact within the American music landscape and whose work continues to set the pace for generations to follow.” During the ceremony, Olivia Rodrigo made a surprise appearance to offer up a cover of Crow’s “Strong Enough,” featured on her 1993 debut LP Tuesday Night Music Club. Jason Isbell, Melissa Etheridge, Eric Church, Lauren Daigle, and Chris Stapleton performed Crow covers, too, before Rodrigo was announced as a surprise finale.
Before performing, Rodrigo said: “What inspires me the most about her is her heart, her kindness, and her generosity… This is my favorite song of hers.” Check out a clip from the performance below.
