Following Lauren Mayberry’s solo debut and the launch of Martin Doherty’s side-project The Leaving, CHVRCHES have shared “Roses,” their first new single in three years. An electro-rock slow-burner that takes aim at the current political climate in the UK and abroad, the track is out now via Futures Music Group.
Regarding the song, Mayberry said: “This is the longest break we had ever taken between albums and when we got together to write new music, we wanted to really push ourselves and not be retreading ground we’d walked before. I really think we achieved that. It feels like the most coherent vision we’ve had as a band. We’re excited to be back...”
To help launch this new era, the band has also announced two intimate gigs: one in Glasgow on October 26, the other in London on October 29. Proceeds for the shows will go to charities, though the particular nonprofits have yet to be announced. Fans can enter the drawing to purchase tickets here. Check out “Roses” below.
