Julia Jacklin’s new LP The Gem is out this Friday via 4AD, but before then, she’s teased one final single: “If I Had the Hand of God.” The track documents a strange trip to Nashville and her own relationship to the music industry. She asks, “Country Hall of Fame / Old boots in a pile / Will the circle stay unbroken if I walked away for a while?”
The new album, Jacklin says, is about the following: “I want to love and be loved, but I also want to be free. The tension between those two things has been the central question of my life.” Check out “If I Had the Hand of God” below, and pre-order The Gem here.
