Beastie Boys legend Mike D has shared a music video for “Secrets Pt. I & II,” which is featured on his recently released debut solo album, Thank You. The video was directed by longtime Beastie Boys collaborator and friend Ari Marcopoulos, who photographed the trio during the Check Your Head and Ill Communication eras. The clip features live footage from Mike D’s recent sold-out show at NYC’s Knockdown Center.
Mike D said of Marcopoulos: “[he] became part of our creative family. He was just embedded in our whole world… Personally, I love how he is committed to not only making the work, but releasing it. Sometimes tirelessly self-publishing his art. It’s inspiring to me. It’s all we can do as people that make stuff: show up, keep trying things and putting it out into the world.”
Mike D’s Thank You tour resumes next Friday, October 16, at Chicago’s Riviera Theater. Check out his tour dates here and the video for “Secrets Pt. I & II” below.
