Big Thief have announced the aptly titled Big Thief Live Archive. The site launched this morning with 10 shows already uploaded to the platform, all of which were recorded by the band’s front-of-house engineer Alice Wilder and monitor engineer Aleda Deroche and mixed by 4AD’s in-house engineer Fabian Prynn. Within the free archive, fans have the ability to build their own sets, creating playlists of their favorite live takes as the library of recordings to pull from gradually grows.
“Every show we play holds a different energy,” the band shared alongside the news. “The songs are always changing and sound different every night, and we spend so much more time on the road than in studios, and so we felt a desire to create something that captures the ever-undulating aliveness of our music through time. In around 2019 we started recording all of our shows.”
In addition to the 10 shows currently listed on the archive, a new one will be added on the second Tuesday of every month. Check out the Big Thief Live Archive here, and get a taste of their live library via a version of “Incomprehensible” performed at 3Arena in Dublin on April 29 below.
