Since its founding by Peanut Butter Wolf in 1996, Stones Throw Records has built one of independent music's most distinctive and eclectic catalogs, spanning hip-hop, soul, funk, electronic music, psych pop, and well beyond.
To mark its 30th anniversary, the influential LA label brought together artists from across its past, present, and future for a three-day, all-ages outdoor festival staged outside the Lodge Room in its longtime home of Highland Park, Los Angeles, from October 16–18.
The celebration featured performances by 30 artists, including Automatic, Sudan Archives, N8NOFACE, J Rocc, Tuxedo, Mild High Club, Dâm-FunK, John Carroll Kirby, Pearl and the Oysters, Egyptian Lover, and, naturally, Peanut Butter Wolf. Local record vendors, neighborhood businesses, and local food and drink offerings rounded out the festivities.
For our latest Backstage Camera Roll, we handed the camera over to the Stones Throw team to document the anniversary festivities. Take a look at their photos and firsthand accounts from the weekend below—and listen to their Stones Throw 30 playlist here.
