The world is ready for a reason to fall in love with dinosaurs again. It’s been twenty-seven years since The Land Before Time warmed our hearts, and mere months since the latest Jurassic Park installment reminded us of the insane destructive power of the extinct beasts. Not to worry, the folks over at Disney/Pixar have you covered.
In the newest trailer for The Good Dinosaur, we are asked to envision an alternate history where that fateful asteroid (which in reality killed off the dinos) was actually nothing more than a shooting star sailing calmly past the Earth in the night sky. In this world, an Apatosaurus (hm, don’t remember that one from school) named Arlo befriends a particularly wolfish neanderthal child while finding his way through the prehistoric wilderness.
According to NME, the film is the first feature-length directorial effort by longtime Pixar animator Peter Sohn, who worked on Ratatouille, The Incredibles, and Finding Nemo.
The voice cast includes Steve Zahn (Treme), Anna Paquin (True Blood), Frances McDormand (Fargo), and Jeffrey Wright (Casino Royale).
The Good Dinosaur hits theaters on November 25.
