After the massive success of Daredevil, Netflix has doubled down on the universal appeal of gritty Marvel shows and finally released the full trailer for its newest series Jessica Jones. The show, which will premiere its entire first season on November 20, follows former super hero Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) as she navigates her way through life as an alcoholic private detective.
This already sounds like a solid enough premise for a drama, but, of course, wherever there’s a hero (even an antihero), there has to be a villain—and Jones’s nemesis is a doozy. Kilgrave (Doctor Who‘s David Tennant) can control minds, which he obviously uses for evil, and is hunting Jones down to screw with her mind and make her do his bidding again. The trailer is ominous, dirty, and intriguing.
