With this month’s Cassette Store Day a distant memory, the folks behind Record Store Day—the twice annual record-release event bonanza that sends you scrambling around town chasing rumored appearances of the Songs: Ohia box set—have announced this year’s Black Friday release roster. The lineup includes notable vinyl reissues from established names (Stankonia! The Pod! Uh, Earthling!); live records from The B-52s, Deerhoof, Johnny Cash, and an all-star jazz ensemble made up of Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Bud Powell, and Max Roach; and archival gems (including the deeply influential country rock outfit International Submarine Band‘s 1968 LP Safe at Home).
Additionally, Dan Auerbach’s The Arcs announced a Record Store Day Black Friday project of their own: The Arcs vs. The Inventors Vol. 1. It’s the first in a series of releases that will find the band collaborating with artists whose work has influenced them. This edition features Dr. John (whose 2012 LP Locked Down was produced by Auerbach) and David Hidalgo of Los Lobos.
Black Friday goes down on November 27 this year; you can see the entire list of releases here.
