With the summer VHS rental classic What About Bob?, the obvious and essential February 2 staple of Groundhog Day, and, of course, the NBA tip-off special Space Jam, Bill Murray is no stranger to quality seasonal films. For the holiday season in particular, Scrooged has proved to be tried and true, but this year it may have new competition.
Reuniting the Lost in Translation duo of Murray and Sofia Coppola, A Very Murray Christmas is the star-packed meta-tale of a Christmas special run amok due to a snow storm. Think This Is the End, but more deaths.
Celebrities set to appear as themselves within the film include George Clooney, Amy Poehler, Chris Rock, Maya Rudolph, Michael Cera, Rashida Jones, Jason Schwartzman, Jenny Lewis, Paul Shaffer, and Miley Cyrus, to name a few, in addition to the band Phoenix, who will also be releasing a special 7” release of the title track performed with Murray himself.
