The first teaser for Ron Howard’s upcoming film, In the Heart of the Sea, starts out unambiguously at first. Period drama about a bunch of men at sea. (Hey! Is Peter Weir finally continuing Master and Commander?) Then, things take a dark, deep turn very fast.
Based upon the true account of the maritime disaster of the whaleship Essex (in turn, one of Melville’s inspirations for Moby-Dick) and the book of the same name by Nathaniel Philbrick, In the Heart of the Sea is directed by Ron Howard and stars Chris Hemsworth as First Mate Owen Chase and Cillian Murphy as Second Mate Matthew Joy, and will be released March 13, 2014.
