It’s the most wonderful time of the year: when you spend an inordinate amount of time infinite-scrolling through Netflix’s Christmas movies selection in hopes that they’ve added Home Alone since last year. Alas, we can’t help you there, but the streaming service today released A Very Murray Christmas, the holiday special directed by Sofia Coppola and hosted by none other than Scrooged‘s Bill Murray.
To celebrate, French synth-poppers Phoenix today released their cover of an obscure 1979 Beach Boys Christmas song (not “Little Saint Nick,” unfortunately), which they play in the film alongside Jason Schwartzman, The New York Dolls’ David Johansen, Letterman bandleader Paul Shaffer, and Bill Murray himself. You can stream “Alone on Christmas Day” below, but you should go ahead and pick up the single via your digital service of choice—all proceeds from the song go to UNICEF, which makes downloading “Alone on Christmas Day” the online equivalent of dropping a buck in the Salvation Army kettle, only the white-haired man with the bell is Bill Murray. Though knowing him, it’s highly possible that he’s planning on standing in front of your local grocery store with a bell, too.
A Very Murray Christmas is now streaming on Netflix.
