Character development isn’t really the point of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (although Mac certainly developed something when he got fat just because it was “funny”), and that’s kind of why the gang is so lovable: In their ceaseless desire to be there solely for themselves, they’re accidentally there for you, too.
Luckily for us, then, Paddy’s is all set to open back up on January 6 when season eleven kicks off on FXX, and in anticipation of that, we’ve now been given our first in-depth look at what’s in store. Or maybe not.
Either way, the new trailer is amazing, and is basically an ’80s ski-resort movie parody channeling the eternal greatness of Hot Dog… The Movie (no, seriously, it’s riffing nearly shot-for-shot on this classic 1984 trailer). Basically, if this was a real movie, it would make for a perfect double feature with Lethal Weapon 5.
