TouchTunes, which you might know as the device you feed an extra three dollars to stop it from playing more Kenny Chesney, has released its lists of most played artists and songs for 2015. And while the headliners won’t surprise anyone who’s wandered through a tailgate party this year—Eric Church is the most-played artist, while Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” was the most-requested song—the latter half of the lists gets a little interesting.
Church is joined on the top ten artists list by contemporaries Jason Aldean (third) and Luke Bryan (fourth), but number two with a bullet is none other than AC/DC. It seems pretty safe to assume that those plays weren’t coming from last November’s Rock or Bust, either, which speaks volumes about just how much people love the clanging at the beginning of “Hells Bells.”
AC/DC aren’t the only legacy act to make the chart, either. In fact, Church, Bryan, and Kid Rock are the only artists in the top ten who released albums in 2015.
And while Sheeran has the most-played-songs crown planted firmly on his ruffly head, he’s followed by Garth Brooks’ immortal “Friends in Low Places”—which is probably appropriate for a list of songs requested in bars. Somewhat amusingly, Queen’s “Fat Bottomed Girls” also made the list at number nine.
TouchTunes has also released a handy infographic that shows the most popular song in each state (Sheeran, somewhat amusingly, dominates SEC country), as well as the top ten rock songs and more.
