It’s a big week for fans of stars or, really, movies with the word “star” in the title. On Friday, the totally underrated Star Wars franchise will unveil its seventh installment to a very level-headed and modest moviegoing audience, while this morning, Bradley Cooper squashed rumors about Beyoncé being the lead in his upcoming remake of A Star Is Born. Now, to get your mind off thinking about the beauty that Queen Bey could have brought to the role of Esther Victoria Blodgett, Paramount has graciously distracted the world with the first trailer for Star Trek Beyond and it’s got some serious swagger.
The USS Enterprise is back in the sci-fi series’ latest adventure, but it’s not the same. In fact, the beloved ship is now in several smoldering pieces across a hostile alien planet. Captain Kirk (Chris Pine), Spock (Zachary Quinto), Scotty (Simon Pegg), Bones (Karl Urban), Uhura (Zoe Saldana), Chekov (Anton Yelchin), and Sulu (John Cho) are left in the rubble to stay together and survive on this unfamiliar ground. At least their fights are to the pumped-up tune of Beastie Boys’ “Sabotage” in the trailer.
