The proper debut of Dr. Dog is 2005’s Easy Beat, but before that album, the Philadelphia group self-released two collections—2001’s The Psychedelic Swamp and 2002’s Toothbrush. Both of the initial releases exist in bootlegged form, but unlike Toothbrush, Psychedelic Swamp in particular has never seen any real rerelease.

For those hoping that they would get to that one now, your wish has been granted…sorta. Fifteen years after it was first recorded, Dr. Dog have revisited the material on Psychedelic Swamp by heading back to their old studio (Mt. Slippery, duh) to create a “retooled” version of the album—kind of like what The Band did with The Basement Tapes in the mid-’70s.

Not everything is old, however, as the first track shared from the upcoming release is apparently something of an all-new song (or a newly shared version of an old song) called “Bring My Baby Back.” Sounds good, whatever it is.
