To announce the release date of Daredevil‘s second season (March 18), this morning, Netflix unveiled a very ominous trailer set in a dark chapel adorned with scenes from the show in the style of Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel. We hear snippets of conversations with (and about) our Catholic hero (Charlie Cox) as the camera pans over dramatic scenes and portraits of the excellent show‘s characters. It doesn’t tell us much, but the mysterious choir music in the trailer does make the hairs on the back of our necks stand up.

Thankfully, Netflix has shed a little bit more light on Daredevil season two’s plot:

Just when Matt thinks he is bringing order back to the city, new forces are rising in Hell’s Kitchen. Now the Man Without Fear must take on a new adversary in Frank Castle and face an old flame – Elektra Natchios.

Bigger problems emerge when Frank Castle, a man looking for vengeance, is reborn as The Punisher, a man who takes justice into his own hands in Matt’s neighborhood. Meanwhile, Matt must balance his duty to his community as a lawyer and his dangerous life as the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, facing a life-altering choice that forces him to truly understand what it means to be a hero.

Take that and try to decipher the frescos in the teaser for the Marvel show below.

All episodes of Daredevil‘s second season will be available on Netflix starting on March 18.
