After releasing the atmospheric “Open Your Eyes” late last year, School of Seven Bells‘ Alejandra Deheza has been pretty quiet about her band’s final album SVIIB. This morning, though, she unveiled another track from the upcoming LP, “On My Heart,” which calls back to the synth-drenched, dance floor-ready days of early School of Seven Bells. Otherworldly harmonies and drum machine beats fill the short number tracking the aftermath of a raw breakup.
While on the surface, Deheza is talking about an ex-lover in “On My Heart,” lyrics like “With me your love’s safe” are especially touching and poignant considering the tragic loss of Benjamin Curtis to cancer in 2013. Hear the track below before the release of SVIIB next month.
