WATCH: The Worst of the Worst Come Together in “Suicide Squad” Trailer

"We're bad guys! It's what we do!"

With the Academy Award nominations out and most of the country covered in snow, it’s time for the entertainment industry to drop the pretension of sad (but acclaimed!) dramas and look ahead to warmer weather and pray for summer blockbusters. Last night, new footage of Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice aired on the CW and this morning, the first full trailer for DC Comic’s Suicide Squad was released in all its strange glory.

In order to obtain their freedom, a group of the world’s nastiest and most violent villains agree to work for the government as an unlikely band of heroes called the Suicide Squad. The merry band of misfits stars Jared Leto (The Joker), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Will Smith (Deadshot), Jai Courtney (Boomerang), Jay Hernandez (El Diablo), Cara Delevingne (Enchantress), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Killer Croc), Adam Beach (Slipknot), and Karen Fukuhara (Katana). Viola Davis also stars in the film as Amanda Waller—the agent who seems to be enacting the “it’s so crazy, it just might work” law of crime-fighting tactics by bringing these criminals together.

Suicide Squad hits theaters on August 5.
