Unless you’re a big fan of foreign film, you may not be immediately familiar with the Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos. But given the buzz on his English language debut The Lobster, that’ll likely change next month. The film stars Colin Farrell as a citizen of a near-future city where inhabitants are given forty-five days to find love or they will be turned into an animal of their choosing. Rachel Weisz plays an outcast who beckons Farrell into the wild, and John C. Reilly plays a dingus who tries to keep him from it.
At Cannes this past year, the movie competed for the Palme d’Or, but it has been for whatever reason delayed a few times en route to its US release. Regardless, it’s safe to say that March 11 is now a lock for distribution. You can check out the full-length trailer below.
