A few days ago, Oscar—the low-register, high-energy rock act out of London—walked Gigwise through a trip to a record/bookstore, and in it, laid out some groundwork for getting to know him. In particular, his picks of Blur’s 13, The Kinks’ Village Green, and Richard Hell’s memoir I Dreamed I Was a Very Clean Tramp set a nice trifecta for what’s going on in his music, which can sort of be described as bubblegum pop scraped off the pavement.
Oscar’s debut LP Cut and Paste is on its way, set to arrive in May, and you can already check out the first single “Breaking My Phone”—in either studio or FLOODfest form. Now the second single “Sometimes” has a very colorful and charming video, which is likely to put you in the mood for donuts and lawn bowling, as if you really need impetus for either of those at any point.
