French producer Douchka made his name playing the Tokyo edition of Red Bull Music Academy in 2014, as well as the official afterparty of Pitchfork Music Festival Paris that year. Now, he’s preparing to release his third EP, Together, and we’re pleased to be premiering the title track.

The song, which features fellow French producer and singer Clarens, sets finger-snaps and a crackling fireplace sample atop a pillowy-soft bed of mellotron before a synth arrives late on the scene and gasping for breath. Douchka’s production here is tasteful and efficient, belying his limited discography, and combined with Clarens’ clear-eyed singing, it suggests a deep aesthetic maturity. This is the work of an artist who knows exactly what he’s looking for and how to get it and give it to us; what we get out of the deal is a swishing semi-soul song that’s just as ready to lie with you on your dorm-room floor as it is to shake you up on the dancefloor. Give “Together” a listen below.

Together is out March 11 via Nowadays Records.
