Since 2006, Matt Damon has been trying to get his time on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. What started out as a self-effacing joke about Kimmel’s inability to get A-listers on his new late night show has exploded into a full-on war with the Academy Award winner, and Damon is not going down without a fight. Last night was Kimmel’s annual post-Oscars extravaganza and Damon believed he had a right to be there as a Best Actor nominee. Unfortunately, Damon didn’t win for The Martian, but he had an ace up his sleeve for finally getting his shot being on Kimmel—Ben Affleck was slated to be on the show.
And so the plan was hatched, Affleck would wear an extra-large coat and literally carry Damon onto the show. No matter what you think about Affleck now, whether you’re confused about his huge back tattoo or skeptical that he can really be Batman, it’s hard not to be impressed by his ability to carry another grown man across a room without struggling. It’s also pretty amazing to think that Damon could stay curled up under that coat for so long.
