“Back to the Future” hoverboard

While many of us don’t care much to remember that the year is quickly coming to an end, we certainly don’t need reminding that 2015 is the year that Marty McFly visited the future in Back to the Future Part II. In the middle of the famed trilogy, McFly (read as Biff) had his own, albeit brief, interaction with an awesome hoverboard. We have waited through years of cheap replicas and fake models, but it looks like the real thing is finally could be put into production.

Sure, the planned hoverboard only floats about an inch above the ground, and will only function on metal surfaces, but who cares? It’s real and if you can’t use it for functionality, at least you can be the envy of all your sucker friends stuck on the ground.

Hendo Hoverboards has an ongoing Kickstarter campaign to continue modifying and perfecting the board. They’ve already reached their goal of $250,000 but you can still contribute to the cause. Donors receive a handful of exciting swag, including tshirts, magnets, a ride on a hoverboard, and of course, your very own developer kit, with which you can attempt to hover your own designs

If you’d rather just get your hands on your very own hoverboard, you can purchase one of the ten in current existence for only $10,000… to be delivered on the date that Marty landed in the future: October 21, 2015.
