Steve Gunn is nearing his tenth year of putting out collaboration-heavy, guitar-driven psych-folk—or whatever you might want to call it. In the past, much of his work has clawed at the margins of popular taste, but for his latest, the margins are being moved out a bit by Matador, who signed him to release Eyes on the Lines, due out in June.

To mark the announcement, Gunn has shared the video for the first single, “Conditions Wild”—a Byrds-ian stomp that functions as a road tune, if that road were  to be windy as hell. As for the Brandon Herman–directed video, it’s a soothing little venture into the wilderness that finds Gunn canoeing, hiking, arm-wrestling a bear, etc.
