Baltimore heroes Animal Collective are no strangers to world outside of the reaches of the Merriweather Post Pavilion (even though they clearly still have BWI close to their hearts), so it wasn’t exactly surprising when the title of one of their two new tracks—“Hounds of Bairro” and “Gnip Gnop”—required Googling. For those who don’t speak Portuguese, the word bairro refers to a community within a region or city in Brazil (and for those who don’t recognize the name “Gnip Gnop,” it was a Parker Brothers game originally from the ’70s).

It’s appropriate for them to release a worldly track right now, given that the group is currently on a massive world tour—the dates of which can be seen here. Previously, these two tracks were exclusively on a 7” found within the deluxe edition of Painting With, but both are now available to listen to on streaming platforms. Listen to those tracks below.
