PREMIERE: Brass Bed Hide Among “Yellow Bursts of Age” in New Video

From the Louisiana group's latest album, In the Yellow Leaf.

Lafayette, Louisiana, psych-pop trio Brass Bed released the Chris Woodhouse–engineered In the Yellow Leaf back in April. The band’s fourth album largely finds them turning inward, guiding their buzzing streams of light around into self-contained—which is not to say “quiet”—and gently mournful songs.

“Yellow Bursts of Age,” whose video we’re pleased to be premiering this morning, is indicative of the album’s approach. Guitarist Jonny Campos coaxes and bends soft-metal feedback along the underside of Christiaan Mader’s vocal melody. “Oh, yellow bursts of age,” Mader sings. “How beautiful.” It is beautiful, but it’s beautiful in the way of a slow and natural decay—a sentiment matched by the video’s pastoral entropy.

You can check it out below, then catch the band on an upcoming West Coast tour; those dates are below, too.
