White Fence’s Tim Presley has teamed up with Ty Segall once again to produce his fifth album, To The Recently Found Innocent. The Californian has taken the recording process outside the square-footage of his bedroom to create his upcoming follow-up to last year’s Cyclops Reap.
White Fence’s sound is a hybrid animal. Presley’s albums are a melting pot of genres: a brew, which combines DIY-garage rock and ’60s psychedelics. The new single, “Like That,” develops this new genre further, utilizing the grunge of whining, blurry guitars—reminiscent of a Segall track. But, by incorporating Presley’s quick, buttery vocals, the track becomes something else: a sweet and salty tune that no genre or label can secure itself onto.
White Fence’s To The Recently Found Innocent is due July 22 via Drag City. Check out his new single “Like That,” and tour dates below.
