Time to brush up on your Icelandic, lest you not be able to tell your Árstíðir from your Auðn. Iceland Airwaves this morning announced the final additions to their 2016 lineup, adding the Australian-born, Reykjavik-based Ben Frost presumably just as much for his complementary aesthetic as for his name. Other new additions include Doomsquad, Pavo Pavo, and a truly remarkable number of Icelandic groups.
They join a stacked, musically diverse lineup that also notably includes Frankie Cosmos, Kevin Morby, Digable Planets, Margaret Glaspy, Julia Holter, The Internet, jennylee, KING, Let’s Eat Grandma, Lush, Minor Victories, múm (with Kronos Quartet), Nap Eyes, PJ Harvey, Santigold, The Sonics, Torres, Warpaint. The festival also aims to amplify local Icelandic culture, and as such features a number of local bands, as well as numerous acts from Scandinavia. You can see the complete lineup here.
Iceland Airwaves takes over Reykjavik from November 2 to 6. You can find more information here.
