The Frights, 2016. No Credit

Delivered from the Dangerbird Records vault, we are excited to share a special documentary on the making of The Frights‘ You Are Going to Hate This with Zac Carper, aptly titled “The Making of ‘You Are Going to Hate This.'”

During the twenty-minute interview, Carper, who produced the record, explains that The Frights were persistent in playing with him and his band—the garage-rocking FIDLAR—sending bi-weekly emails to them in hopes of joining the bill at a local show. It wasn’t until the LA band played in San Diego that they decided to give the boys a shot.

“Once I heard them play live, I thought ‘Shit, we can actually do something here,'” Carper recalls. And the rest, as they say, is history. It wasn’t long before The Frights were in FIDLAR’s studio hashing out what would become their debut record, released February of this year.

Throughout the humorous documentary, Carper and the Frights trio walk us through the writing and recording of various songs on the album and how the team helped each other to mature and develop musically. Many important behind-the-scenes questions are answered, including: What did the guys wear while recording? How many tacos did they consume throughout the making of the record? Who’s the most attractive member of the band? You can find all the answers—as well as the band’s current tour dates—below.
