Noga Erez was born at the tail end of 1989 in Tel Aviv. In other words, an uncertain time in an uncertain part of the world. She’s grown up in the shadow of seemingly eternal conflict, and her music—just now beginning to be spread on the global scale—addresses that conflict. In her words, it would be “impossible” not to. But the way in which Erez engages with politics isn’t to hit you over the head with it—rather, it’s to incorporate the landscape into the total wash of emotions that are represented in her world and her sound. Think Flying Lotus meets M.I.A.

You can hear that meeting best on her new single, “Dance While You Shoot,” which we had the pleasure of seeing performed live in Tel Aviv as part of the latest installment of Original Tracks. Last week, Original Penguin premiered the first cut from the series—a performance of “Toy”—and today we have the aforementioned single in all its dusk-y glory. Check it out below.
